It is believed that this very loss shaped one of the most famous works of world literature, the play *Hamlet*, written shortly after the tragedy. Through the perspective of Shakespeare’s wife Anne, better known as Agnes, the novel and film explore the consequences of the family tragedy on their two remaining daughters, one of whom was Hamnet’s twin, on their marriage, and on art itself.
