Synopsis

When it seemed that all was lost – the story begins of a man who refused to surrender.

June 1940. France is defeated and signs an armistice.

As the country collapses, an unknown general refuses to accept defeat. Alone, without an army, without political backing, and without any guarantees, he goes to London with an almost crazy idea – that the war for France is not over. Confronted with brutal reality and the world’s disbelief, he starts a fight that seems doomed from the start. But, step by step, the first resistance fighters gather around him – students, soldiers, and individuals ready to risk everything for freedom.

A powerful and inspiring depiction of Charles de Gaulle’s journey during World War II – from military leader to key political figure in France between 1940 and 1945.
